The 2019 season of The Voice South Africa saw technical supplier Multi-Media and production manager Chris de Lancey ask lighting designer Joshua Cutts of Visual Frontier onboard to help the team deliver another amazing-looking show … which Josh accomplished with some help from a large Robe moving light rig – nearly 150 fixtures!
It’s not every day that the chance comes up to light a large-scale musical spectacular starring over 100 majestic Friesland horses, geese, a dog, a falcon … together a few famous actors and singers as well, so Marc Heinz relished the opportunity of working on “De Stormruiter” (The Stormrider) with a cast that truly ticked the ‘diverse’ box in every aspect!
Robe was the moving light of choice for the second season of The Voice South Africa. Multi-Media were again appointed as technical production company by TV producers AMPN, with Joshua Cutts of Visual Frontier once again appointed as lighting designer.
Robe moving lights are making a big impact at the Icelandic National Theatre (Þjóðleikhúsið) in Reykjavík since they became an integral element of the available house lighting rig, a process that started in 2014 and has recently been continued with the addition of DL7S Profiles, LEDBeam 1000s and Actor6s.
The brand new Eesti Rahva Muuseum (Estonian National Museum) in Tartu has recently opened in a fabulous new single story state-of-the-art 350 metre long architectural masterpiece resembling a portion of a runway lifting upwards … built on the former Raadi Air Base just outside the cultural hub and second city of Tartu, and near to the site of the original Muuseum at Raadi Manor.
Seven halls of Amsterdam’s RAI expo centre hosted an annual two day event for a well-known brand. The technical production – lighting, audio, video, rigging and special FX - for all areas was delivered by Breda based Unlimited Productions B.V., who sourced over 600 Robe moving lights for the occasion!
Popular musical “Dirty Dancing” returned to London’s West End in December playing the Phoenix Theatre following a regional UK tour with a lively production that originally premiered in Italy in 2015 where it played Milan and Rome. This production has also toured in Spain and Mexico with additional troupes.
Innibos – an action-packed high profile arts and music festival staged in and around Mbombela (Nelspruit) in South Africa during the winter presenting Afrikaans music, theatre, literature and visual arts – again featured Robe moving lights on the Main and the Rock performance stages in 2016.
South African LD Christopher Bolton from Johannesburg based Keystone Productions used 180 Robe fixtures for the “feel good” 2016 Ghoema Music Awards, staged at the famous Jo’burg Theatre in Braamfontein, the city’s lively downtown.
Leading Netherlands based production and rental company Ampco Flashlight Rental BV (AFR) has made a another substantial investment in Robe moving lights – with the purchase of 80 x DL7S Profile LED fixtures and 80 x LEDBeam 1000s, underlining their commitment to the brand.
Dutch House DJ Fedde Le Grand recently played his GRAND 2016 event at Amsterdam’s 20,000 capacity Ziggo Dome, which was completely sold out and featured a spectacular lighting design by JJ Rotte from Dutch lighting and visual creative practice Light Image ... and over 200 Robe moving lights!
