The UK’s Festive holidays ignited the zany and uniquely British performance phenomena of pantomime which came to theatre stages up and down the UK! This year lighting designer Andy Webb was delighted to be asked to design two high-profile panto shows – Aladdin at the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury and Beauty and The Beast at the Festival Theatre in Malvern, both for UK Productions (UKP).
Italian lighting designer Alessandro Caso used Robe T1 Profiles, Spiider LED wash beams and DL4S Profile moving lights for a special Covid safe dance piece “The Four Seasons – Where the Heart Takes You” performed by the Rome Opera Ballet and directed and choreographed by Giuliano Peparini, staged initially at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna.
Sydney Catholic Schools presented four special performances of “School of Rock - The Musical” in an arena spectacular based on the original Broadway show and staged at the 16,000-capacity Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.
The Croatian National Theatre of Split continues its commitment to Robe moving lights with regular rentals of ESPRITES to work well alongside their house LEDWash 600s which are in regular daily use in the venue’s 650 capacity main house. Bayreuth, Germany, an epicentre of creativity and exploration in the world of opera, hosted its third Baroque Opera Festival (BBOF) this year with a lively programme of works including “Allesandro Nell’Indie”, which was lit by French LD David Debrinay using over 50 Robe moving lights including T1 and T2 Profiles and LEDBeam 350s.
The Théâtre du Châtelet, an iconic arts and cultural landmark venue in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, designed by Jean-Antoine-Gabriel Davioud and completed in 1862, re-opened to the public in 2019 after several years of extensive renovation work. The theatre has recently re-opened again post pandemic.
Skive Kulturcenter (Cultural Centre) makes a stunning contemporary architectural statement and is a vibrant multipurpose entertainment hub in the city of Skive, that serves all the Jutland region with music, films, arts, and sports activities. Its main Concert Hall which stages international gigs and events accommodates 1200 (seated) and 1800 (standing).
An Anolis Ambiane and Eminere auditorium lighting installation is part of a complete revamp at the Rakkestad Theatre, a busy community hub and performance venue serving the Rakkestad municipality and surrounding areas of this thriving and diverse Norwegian agricultural heartland.
“Fuzion” is a sumptuous specially commissioned brand-new Cirque du Soleil production that was staged at the King Abdallah Sports City (KASC) stadium in Jeddah for the 2022 Jeddah Season Festival.
