Robe Show Lighting launches new DMX 480 Control and ColorMix 240 AT fixture

Robe Show Lighting – the Czech Republic-based moving light manufacturer launches two new products – the DMX Control 480 and the ColorMix 240 AT.

The DMX Control 480 is the latest Robe controller, designed for fast and simple control in a vast range of applications. The DMX 480 can control up to 20 fixtures with a maximum of 24 DMX channels each.

The onboard architecture features 750 Scenes, 255 Programs each with 50 Scenes and 100 Records with 50 Program combinations, offering incredible flexibility to create and playback shows. Each programme’s timing function enables precise control and easy synchronisation with music, rhythms and sound effects.

Robe fixtures can be remotely configured via the DMX 480 as well as controlled and programmed.

A 32MB multimedia card is supplied with the console, allowing data to be safely stored and shared between controllers. The RS232 interface offers further options on creating and saving data using a PC, whist maintaining direct control of the lamps.

Other features include real time control of scanners, moving heads, dimmer packs and strobes; and 20 programmable Chases with adjustable speed. PAN and TILT movements are controlled with 16 bit precision by two encoder wheels, and smooth, premium quality faders are provided for direct control of light intensity when running Scenes, Programs or Records.

The DMX Control 480 offers a back-lit LCD display with adjustable contrast band and continually adjustable step and fade time. Copy and Delete functions are available for all Scenes, Programs, Records and Chases, and Insert and Delete functions make the adding and subtracting of Steps in Programs and Records quick and simple.

The console has Macro functions for Colour and Gobo values to be assigned to the buttons, and the Manual option allows each channel to be controlled separately while another is being programmed. It’s also possible to run two Scenes, Programs or Records in parallel.

The DMX Control 480 is security code protected. Additional neat features include Copy and Delete functions for the fixture library, and a +12V AC desk lamp socket for a gooseneck lamp.

The ColorMix 240 AT – is the latest in the cutting-edge new Robe Advanced Technology (AT) Series. It’s a static colour changer with a 150 mm fresnel lens. Built with the same reliable engineering quality characteristic of all Robe products, it is aimed at many professional applications including theatres, TV studios, stage lighting and interior architectural lighting.

Responding to the overwhelming market demand for colour changers, the ColorMix 240 is designed as a compact version of ColorMix 250 AT, featuring all the functions deemed ‘most useful’ by lighting designers and architects. It is an ideal substitution for conventional PAR reflectors and colour scrollers – and a great deal less hassle!

Utilising an MSD 250/2 discharge lamp, the fixture outputs an incredibly bright and even 18.000 lumens, and has a 2000 hour life.

The ColorMix 240 provides everything expected from a colour changer. As a streamlined version of the ColorMix 250, the ColorMix 240 can be put to full use in theatre applications without the surplus requirements of a colour wheel or a frost filter.

Other features include full, ultra-smooth CMY colour mixing, and a separate fast shutter for black-out and variable strobing. The fixture’s dimmer unit allows smooth micro-step driven dimming.

Internal stand-alone programming facilities contain an inbuilt microphone that can be used as a music trigger, and addressing, personality setting and effects calibration can be operated locally via a 4-digit LED control panel. The DMX channels can be run in 2 protocol modes with up to 11 channels .

Other features include pre-programmed dimmer and strobe macros with variable or random pulse effects and remote fan speed control. Manual zoom varies the beam angle from 8° to 22° via the fresnel lens. The ColorMix 240 also offers remote lamp on/off functionality via DMX.

Date of issue : 12th May 2003.
