They played for the first time at Mexico City’s 10,000 capacity Auditorio Nacional, complete with a lighting design by José Luis “Chikis” Campos Garnica, utilising Robe moving lights.

For the occasion, Chikis used 12 x ROBIN LEDWash 600s, 12 x ROBIN LEDWash 1200s, 8 x ROBIN MMX Spots and 8 x ROBIN MMX WashBeams which were provided by locally based rental company Meridian Pro together with Robe’s Mexican distributor, Vari Internacional.

Eight of the LEDWash 1200s were rigged on a front truss, with the other two fixtures on side trusses left and right of the stage.

The MMX Spots were distributed in a similar fashion to the LEDWash 1200s, while the twelve LEDWash 600s were positioned on two moon-shaped trusses above the stage.

The eight MMX WashBeams were rigged onto a 1.80 metre high structure at the back of the stage from where “They looked wonderful!”.

Chikis says, “All the fixtures played an essential role in the show, especially the MMX Spots which were used from the front and sides to show off their gobos and effects. The power  of the LEDWash 1200s and 600s really took over the stage, and the individual LED rings looked great”.

He also emphasised that the gobos and brightness of the MMX WashBeams stood out from the beams of other moving light brands, especially because of their zoom and the adjustable hot-spot feature.

“It was the best show I have produced in many years thanks to the help of several people involved, and especially Alberto García from Vari, who helped me get 100% out of the Robes. Both the band and myself were really happy with the results!”, he concluded.

Lighting was programmed and operated by the designer himself using an Avolites console.
