Robe moving lights dominated the main stage and several other arenas at the 2006 Creamfields festival.

They were part of a package from leading UK rental company HSL, who supplied all 7 live arenas at the high profile and popular festival featuring the very best dance music on the planet.

Steven Abbiss designed site-wide lighting schemes for all areas, created to work for all the artists appearing in the 15 hour non-stop dance extravaganza.

The main stage lighting rig also had input from Ian MacEwan, LD for headliners Prodigy who rocked the house with a classically adrenalised set. There were also great live performances from Goldfrapp, The Zutons and Knarls Barclay.

Twenty Robe ColorSpot 1200 ATs and 20 ColorWash 1200 ATs were used to the max. on the Main stage, together with other effects and generic lighting fixtures, all controlled via a WholeHog II specified by MacEwan.

The Cream and Goodgreef arena was the largest tented venue on site, and once again Robe took centre stage with 24 ColorSpot 1200 ATs and 24 ColorWash 1200 ATs rigged onto a trussing system that criss-crossed the tent. A star-studded line-up included Paul Van Dyke, Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren and others, all of whom are used to large spectacular light and effects shows. Lighting was operated by Nathan Wan using an Avolites Diamond 4 Elite console.

Other arenas utilising Robe included Tidy, where the kit was co-ordinated by Simon Barrington and supplied by HSL, featuring 12 ColorSpot 575 ATs and 12 ColorWash 575 ATs which were run off an Avo Sapphire control operated by Tidy’s own visual crew.

Over in the Hospitality area, Robe ColorSpot and ColorWash 250 ATs proved a neat solution to the low headroom, rigged onto a truss running along the spine of the tent, operated by Ryan Hopkins.

HSL’s project manager Mike Oates sums up,“

Using Robe gave us the broad range of fixtures needed to service a festival like this, and the comfort of knowing that the units would keep going non stop for 15 hours without a hitch
