'Robe ROBIN moving lights including the new LEDBeam 100s and 600 Washes, Spots and Beams were used by technical services provider Hirezone Audio Visual for the Durban leg of the ‘Super M Live’ event, headlined by South Africa’s favourite rockers, The Parlotones.
The event – an experiential to promote Clover’s Super M milk drink – was staged at Durban’s Wavehouse, with Hirezone’s Richard Gild the project manager.
For the lighting rig, the company worked to the specification of Parlotones’ LD Travis Yeatman, and also provided the most appropriate fixtures for the venue, with which they are very familiar and features a relatively low ceiling height.
Lights were hung above the stage on a ground support system - optimised to gain every last millimetre of headroom - and also on the deck.
The Robe elements included six ROBIN 600E Spots and six 600E Washes on the back bar, with another six ROBIN 600E Washes on the mid stage bar. On the floor were two 600E Spots, six ROBIN 600E Beams and six ROBIN LEDBeam 100s.
The tiny but hugely bright LEDBeam 100 is an absolutely perfect fixture for this type of environment.
There was also a selection of generic lighting fixtures and strobes, all of which were controlled by Travis using an Avolites Tiger Touch.
Hirezone is based in Durban and primarily services shows and events in the KwaZulu Natal area. The business is run by Richard Gild and Garth Lawler and has been operating for 17 years, committed to providing the very highest levels of service.
More recently Hirezone AV has started investing in Robe moving lights, which have been delivered by Robe’s SA distributor, DWR.
“They seem innovative and offer products ideal for our size and style of business,” says Richard on Robe, adding “The service and backup from DWR is exceptional”.
