Picture Productions, based in Chennai, India made its first investment in new Robe moving lights with the purchase of 8 x ColorSpot 2500E AT fixtures - from Robe's highest powered current series.

The company is run by the father and son duo of Alfred and Raymond Selvaraj, and was founded by Alfred over 25 years ago. They are one of the leading lighting rental companies in Tamil Nadu and work extensively in and around Chennai as well as all over India. Their work is based in all sectors - from corporate events to live shows and concerts to theatre and TV productions.

Picture Productions is also known for its creative lighting design concepts as well as for supplying quality equipment. Raymond joined the company as a director about 18 months ago and designs, programmes and operates many of their lightshows.

They had been interested in Robe for some time before they made the purchase. "We were aware of the brand and had seen the products in action on several other shows," explains Raymond, adding that they were keen to expand the design division of the company relatively quickly, and realised that one way to achieve this was to offer renowned international brands to the strata of clients in India who value having this equipment - as opposed to cheaper options - on their shows.

They contacted Robe's Indian distributor Integrated Entertainment Solutions (IES) in Mumbai and arranged to look at both the 1200 and the 2500E AT series. After a demo, they made their first purchase of the ColorSpot 2500E ATs.

Everyone in the company - designers and technicians alike - was delighted with the purchase. They specifically like the brightness and quality of light.

The designers were impressed with the additional creative scope that the fixtures brought to their work, and the technician’s love the fact that they are reliable, strong and well engineered, so they don't have to spend time repairing them!

Based on all this positive response, plus the reactions of end clients who saw what Robe could bring to their shows, Picture Productions is planning to expand their inventory of colour spots of 2500E ATs.

"The level of service and support we've received from IES has also been excellent," confirms Raymond, which is also a major factor for any company thinking of making an investment.

One of the first shows for the newly delivered Robes was a cultural festival at IIT Saarang Collage in Chennai. This featured 5 different bands per day, all of whom needed to have a unique look onstage - a task made infinitely easier using the Robes!

One of the headliners, Pain of Salvation, brought their own LD, who was really delighted to find premium brand moving lights on the rig, which he could really maximise!
