Pablo is a lighting designer based in Mexico and working worldwide on show business events, tours and theatrical productions, and is also a laser specialist. Recent clients have included Gloria Trevi, Alejandra Guzmán, Fey, Yuri, Solange, Camilo and Fischerspooner.

Robe: Where are you right now?

Pablo: At home in Mexico City.

Robe: What are you doing to fill the time whilst isolating / on lockdown?

Pablo: Webinars and training from MA Lighting and Pangolin laser systems and working on blueprints for – hopefully – what will be upcoming shows.

Robe: What’s the most creative thing you’re able to do in isolation?

Pablo: Working with lasers at home!

Robe: Are you looking after anyone else during the Covid-19 crisis?

Pablo: Not at home, but I’m checking in with my mom daily on the phone.

Robe: Has anyone inspired you since this started?

Pablo: The guys at our company, Live Entertainment.

Robe: Favourite book / movie / Netflix series / viral video

Pablo: I have many favourite movies and books! But I recommend for these times in particular “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron, (focused on artistic and creative recovery) and also Das Experiment (a 2001 German thriller directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel based on Mario Giordano's novel Black Box that deals with a social experiment).

Robe: What’s the first thing you’d like to do when we are through it?

Pablo: Go back on tour!

Robe: Own question / answer / message of solidarity or something you’d like to say?

Pablo: I work in the show business industry. We have the best job on the planet, but right now it has totally stopped!

But when we are on tour, travelling, working in a theatre, arena or club, at every show we know people and meet new people. Sometimes they become our friends, many times our best friends and most of the time … they are our family. We are not alone; we all have each other.

If together we can collaborate and combine talents, skills and lateral thinking to create a big spectacle in just a few hours … we WILL get through this!
