Working with the artist for the first time, Tristão’s rig included 14 x MMX Spots, 30 x LEDBeam 100s and 16 x LEDWash 600s – all from Robe’s ROBIN series. These were  run at a colour temperature of 3500 K to provide ambience lighting and highlight the structures onstage, as well as ensuring Pessoa was well lit at all times.

Sixteen of the LEDBeam 100s were rigged overhead, six of the MMX Spots were positioned on different 1.5 m high vertical trusses and the remaining eight MMX Spots were on the floor, tucked right in the bottom of the 1.5 metre trusses.

The other 14 x LEDBeam 100s were also located on the floor, used to provide back-lighting, while the remaining 16 x LEDWash 600s were used for front light, together with some 1K fresnels.

All programming and operation for the project was completed by Marcos using a grandMA2 PC wing for moving lights and an Avolites Pearl 2010 console for the dimmed lightsources.

“I chose to use Robe products for the great LED technology, CMY colour mixing and amazing gobos! These effects all helped me to emphasise different parts of the show, like the opening, the acoustic set, the guest participation elements and some of the up-tempo songs”, said Marcos, who was also the shoot’s Technical Production Manager.

“The focus and performance of the LEDBeam 100 is wonderful with great flexibility and precision. The LEDWash 600 zoom and colours are perfect for cameras and for controlling the colour temperature via the console. I also like the MMX Spot’s gobos and power, the accuracy of the movement and the functions each fixture provides!”

Marcos Paulo Tristão has been working in professional lighting for about nine years, and has always been a Robe fan. He is currently specializing in DVDs and video promos for several country-style bands and duos from Goiás. For the last three years, he’s been LD for duo João Lucas e Marcelo.
