Dessauer, Germany based rental company i:TECS took delivery of the first Robe DLX Spots in the country, supplied by German distributor LMP.
"The DLX Spot is an ideal complement to our Robin 600 LEDWashes,” says i:TECS director Lutz Pätzold, and the new world’s first RGBW LED spot has also been a big hit with their technicians and clients as well.
He remarks that the low maintenance and on-going running costs of quality LED fixtures is ideal for a rental company like i:TECS, which has a busy schedule all year-round, and very little ‘down-time’.
i:TECS were also one of the first companies in Germany to take delivery of the popular Robe LEDWash 600 when it was launched two years ago, and LEDWashes are used on most of their diverse portfolio of shows and events.
Recent i:TECS projects have included the annual sales and marketing conference of the ZEUS Group, staged at the Congress Centre in Willingen.
Lighting designer and operator Tino Weinhardt explained that the challenge of this event was to make the set and lighting rig work for both the conference during the day ….. and an evening of on-stage entertainment – with no time for any re-rigging!”
He used LEDWash 600s on a front truss to light the whole downstage area and set in combination with conventional ARRI white-light floods. “The LEDWash 600 was excellent for everything I needed," he enthused.
In the combination with Robe ColorSpot 1200E ATs and ColorSpot 575E ATs primarily for key lighting, Tino programmed the lights so the show morphed seamlessly from conference into performance settings.
It was a question of complete contrasts - Neutral white lighting was required for the conference, while lots of energy, colour and movement was needed for the evening of ‘variety’ artists.
An additional challenge is the limited load capacity of the venue’s roof – another good reason for using LEDWash 600s.
Says Tino, “The LEDWash 600 is bright, light and quiet with excellent quality whites and good, well-balanced colours. It is a very unique and truly multi-purpose fixture that I intend to keep using on all my projects”.
Tino has worked with Robe fixtures for 10 years now and says, "They are extremely reliable and that’s a bottom line for any production”.
He adds that the service and support from LMP is also excellent.
