Eder Trejo Morales inherited his passion for the production industry from his father – Sergio Trejo, who heads lighting and sound rental and services company D.showlighting and was also a lighting operator.
Since very young, Eder accompanied Sergio on different projects and events throughout Mexico to learn what it was all about. As time passed, the enthusiasm became stronger.
“I started meeting my father’s friends who were lighting programmers and designers and I learnt a lot talking to them and observing what they were doing. Since leaving primary school, I insisted that I wanted to work in lighting.”
“My Dad told me to get a ‘proper job’ … something out of the industry - but I didn’t! Instead I started working at D.showlighting as a technical assistant”, Eder explains. He used to give lighting and technical support to the bands the company was providing.
“My father didn’t want me to work in the industry - because he knew what it was like to live on tour, being away from the family for long periods and all those challenging things - so at first he gave me the most basic jobs – like installing a wiring, to see if I still wanted to stick it out!”
“When I did, he later expanded the breadth of my experience to include learning how to produce events, so that if I decided to stay in the industry, I would have a good cross section of knowledge and the accompanying skills”.
Little by little, Eder started gaining technical knowledge, not only on lighting design theory but also about consoles, how to program them and how to operate lights, until his first big chance came up to work with local singer and composer Ana Gabriel.
The proposal then came up that he should tour with Ana Gabriel.
He was studying Communication Science at Insurgentes University in Mexico City at the time, and when his father said he’d cut the tuition finance if he ran away to go on the road ... Eder took the chance … and took off the job!
This first step as a technician opened many more doors to operating lighting on several shows with different artists like Autoridad de la Sierra; a reggae tour with Cultura Profética from Puerto Rico, Gondwana from Chile and Los Cafres from Argentina; and more recently a new rock and pop band Alu; plus Adrián Uribe and Grupo Cañaveral.
His first contact with Robe was during a product presentation by Robe’s Mexican distributor Vari Internacional, for which he was called in to operate the console showing the LEDWash series and MMX Spots.
“I immediately liked the movement of the fixtures and the technology involved”, he comments.
Comedian Adrián Uribe then participated in a show with legendary singer Margarita whose rider was all Robe … and they had to use the same equipment which included LEDWash 1200 and 600s and MMX Spots, so that was his first ‘real experience’ with Robes.
“They are all really good!”, he states.
Recently, Eder lit Grupo Cañaveral at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City using some LEDWash 600s and for the first time ... Robe Pointes. “I knew about the Pointe’s features but this was the first time I had had occasion to use it. When I saw what it could do and the brightness... it simply blew me away!”
On the LEDWash 600, he says, “I have used it for some video shoots and am really impressed as there are no camera flicker issues”. He also likes the light weight, the reliability and the wide range of features that allow more creativity.
Eder is currently working on a symphonic show at the Teatro de la Ciudad de México in October for which he has specified Pointes. “I even showed the organisers a video of the Pointe and explained its great potential, and as TV channel Televisión Mexiquense is recording, I have also asked for some LEDWash 600s. Let’s see what they say!” he concluded.
Czech moving and LED lighting manufacturer Robe lighting s.r.o. and Australian distribution company Jands have reached an amicable agreement whereby …
Sylvain Bresson joins the Robe Lighting France team as project manager / specifier and will be focused on developing the business of Anolis, Robe’s architectural LED lighting brand.
After 21 “brilliant” years working with Czech lighting and LED manufacturer Robe s.r.o., outgoing Global Sales Director Ingo Dombrowski will step away from the business and retire from active duties at the end of 2025!
Czech-based lighting manufacturer Robe lighting s.r.o. enjoyed its best ever year in 2024 and is expecting 2025 to be a continuation of that busy and successful trajectory.
