Extending the possibilities of the playful, colorful DLS Profile, the new DL4S is equipped with enhanced version of the ROBE RGBW LED module for brighter saturated colours and more powerful output.

To magnify the already perfectly smooth colours, fades and dimming, the DL4S features innovative LED driving system for improved, extremely high definition dimming curve for all R, G, B, W colours, with 18 bit resolution. The DL4S adds a system of 4 fast, smooth, framing shutters within the optical path design of the proven DLS Profile format. There is individual control of each shutter blade position and angle, together with rotation of the complete framing module. As well as providing a sharp precise or soft frame for the projected image, the system produces a new series of effects through pre-programmed shutter blade shape and movement sequences. As with all models in the Robe DL luminaire range, the multiple shadows normally associated with an LED source have been eliminated. The enhanced Robe RGBW LED light source reproduces both rich and pastel colours at output levels normally associated with 1 200 W discharge fixtures as well as pure whites at preselected 2 700, 3 200, 4 200, 5 600 and 8 000 kelvin colour temperatures. The tungsten emulation function allows the fixture to be integrated seamlessly into lighting schemes with existing traditional lanterns.

GDTF – General Device Type Format

The General Device Type Format creates a unified definition for exchange of data for the operation of intelligent luminaries, such as moving lights. The file format is human readable and developed using open source formats.

Tungsten Emulation

When selected, the luminaire will mimic the colour temperature of a tungsten lamp as you lower the output to produce that classic warm glow.

QVGA Robe Touch Screen Display System

The QVGA Robe touch screen display gives full access to all fixture setup and diagnostic functions and is very intuitive to navigate.

Slot & Lock Gobos

Robe's patented "slot & lock" system allows for easy and fast replacement of both rotatable and indexable gobos.

Plano4™ Framing shutters

Robe's patented Plano4™ 4 blade framing shutter module offers absolute beam control with each blade on an individual level with separate movement and rotation control. They are ultra-thin, enabling them all to be focused sharp, without any distortion. They can be easily used in combination with a gobo – and even if you add colour, you will experience no chromatic aberration, also referred to as "Fringing", making our innovative framing shutters really stand out!

Robe Gets into More Panto Madness

The UK’s Festive holidays ignited the zany and uniquely British performance phenomena of pantomime which came to theatre stages up and down the UK! This year lighting designer Andy Webb was delighted to be asked to design two high-profile panto shows – Aladdin at the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury and Beauty and The Beast at the Festival Theatre in Malvern, both for UK Productions (UKP).

Robe for All Seasons

Italian lighting designer Alessandro Caso used Robe T1 Profiles, Spiider LED wash beams and DL4S Profile moving lights for a special Covid safe dance piece “The Four Seasons – Where the Heart Takes You” performed by the Rome Opera Ballet and directed and choreographed by Giuliano Peparini, staged initially at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna.

Ingenious Solution for Column of Fire Production

Copenhagen’s Bellevue Theatre asked lighting designer Mark P Jones to create a practical and versatile lighting scheme to facilitate their recent touring version of “A Column of Fire”, a musical production based on Ken Follet’s gripping work encapsulating politics, passion, religious divisions and other 16th-century melodrama of the moment. It was initially staged at the theatre in 2019, directed by Mads M Nielsen with set designed by Benjamin la Cour and lit by Mikael Sylvest.
