These went straight out on the 2011 Rocking The Daisies Festival where Hellfire were providing full technical production for the Nu World and Lemontree Stages.
Rocking the Daisies – now in its fifth year- is the fastest growing eco-friendly music and lifestyle festival in South Africa, staged in the beautiful environs of Cloof Wine Estate in Darling on the Western Cape. This unique boutique style event aims to offer a diverse and interesting mega-mix of the best live entertainment, lifestyle exhibitions and gourmet food!
This was of course absolutely the right place for Robe’s own current eco-conscious ROBIN product range to feel at home! This latest innovative technology from Robe is produced by utilising a number of genuinely more environmentally sustainable processes, and underlines the company’s “Think of the Future – Consider Nature” green initiative launched in 2010.
Lindsay Barton, one of Hellfire’s Rocking The Daisies technicians explains that they purchased the ROBIN 300 LEDWashes – from Robe’s South African distributor DWR - because of a general demand for LED fixtures. They liked the quality compact design, the light weight and the brightness of the fixture, and also thought they would be ideal for an upcoming Freshlyground tour - one of SA’s most popular bands (LD Peter Rodda) - for which they are also supplying lighting equipment.
Rocking The Daisies was a perfect opportunity to put the newly delivered LEDWash 300s through their paces.
They were rigged on vertical trusses at the front of each side of the Nu World stage and used to throw colour and create movement all around the tent. Lindsay comments, “They are really powerful for their size and they looked great!” Lights for Nu World were operated by Steffano Pelegrini using an Avolites Pearl console.
The Hellfire LEDWashes are now out with Freshlyground, where they are rigged between the spots on the back truss, providing powerful, colourful stage washes and also moving out and around to capture the crowd action.
